Broken Dreams - a new series

Good morning! I've finally finished another piece and will be starting a new one today. This is a first in a new series called "Broken Dreams". It is 14x18 acrylic on canvas. I love painting people. I love telling a story through them. When people ask me why I paint such sad paintings sometimes, I always tell them, "Life is not always happy. People live through terrible times and their stories need to be told. A piece of art should provoke an emotion, and that emotion doesn't always have to be happy."

Love and peace to you all, in the coming new year. xo

Freedom Tea

Finally finished. This is my tribute to the brave men and women fighting for their freedom in the Middle East revolutions. I've been following their plight so closely. I remember reading how happy a man was to have his first "Freedom Tea".

Ice

I wanted to try something different. Here it is. I used watercolor and India ink. I enjoyed being free with the brushes and color. In art, there are no rules. I guess that's why I love it so much. :)

Christmas Magic

I love Christmas. It may be far away yet, but I had the urge to paint an oldtime Santa the other day. Maybe it's the cool August breeze that's pushing me so forward.

Something a little different, yet fun. This is the first of a new series I'm doing. I wanted to use bright, vibrant colours. The music sheet is blank.... fill it with the music in your heart!

Keeping The Dream

I just finished this piece. Seems I'm having a love affair with hay bales lately. There's something so peaceful about them out in the fields.

Busy Busy!

This week has been very busy! I spent the week participating in the PAA Artists' Residency. This painting was painted plein air at a private beach on Calumet Island. The scenery was stunning! Tomorrow I will be showing at the Picnic in the Park in Quyon, Quebec.

Calm on the Ottawa

During a day on the water last week, I took several pictures of nature on the Ottawa River. I took an idea from them and came up with this painting. There are several beautiful places along the Ottawa River... and I hope to paint another one soon.

Seasons End

Finally finished the touch ups on this painting. I had taken a picture of this last fall while on a drive. It's done in acrylic on a 16x20 gallery canvas. Corn season was over but it made for a great picture.

Picnic In The Park

I've been busy lately getting ready for Quyon's Picnic in the Park, finishing up paintings and final touches. I'll be bringing some pieces to show the community. Should be a fun time!

Life Fulfilled

I sold this painting today at the Coronation Hall in Bristol, Quebec, of an elderly woman in Guatemala. I took a picture of her selling avocados in the market, when I was there. I fell in love with her face so I painted it!

.... I will miss her.

Marcio Melo

I had the pleasure of meeting Marcio Melo yesterday as he opened up his home for the annual Pontiac Artists' Studio Tour. After sipping some punch and chatting with him about painting, we toured around his beautiful garden. One can't help but be inspired visiting his home on the lake. Breathtaking.

New Series

I've started a new series. Whimsical paintings using bright colours of acrylic and done on canvas. This one is 12x16. Fun!

First Gallery Showing

I've just had my first gallery showing at the Stone School Gallery in Portage-du-Fort. I decided, knowing it would be quite different from many others, to show my series on the suppressed. I included four acrylic paintings I completed this winter.
